The Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is a stylish and affordable collector’s car with the combination of Italian styling, solid construction and time proven components from the Beetle which was a winning combination. The first Karmann-Ghia was introduced in Europe in 1955 and was sold through 1974. The reliability was well known because the Karmann Ghia was basically a rebodied Beetle with the same air-cooled engine, chassis and other mechanical components. It was three inches longer than the Beetle and nearly seven inches lower, and its low-slung body helped it handle better as it only weighed 1750 lbs. The Karmann Ghia’s styling was from Italy’s famous Ghia studios, which worked on exotic Italian sports cars, and the specially crafted body built by respected Karmann coachworks.
This Karmann Ghia has been fully restored and looks the part. The interior has been fully reupholstered in a beautiful two-tone brown and features new carpeting. The motor and transmission have been rebuilt with less than 500 miles added since the rebuild. There are new chrome components all around and the car was repainted. Recent brake service includes new pads and rotors. The car has been a California car the majority of its life and has always been garage kept.
Please note that there is a salvage title on this car as a result of another vehicle backing into it at low speed and the insurance company decided not to repair it. The front end of the vehicle was pushed in but there was no structural damage to the vehicle. The owner bought the vehicle back from the insurance company and decided to completely restore the car. The damaged front end was hammered out to align the steel and this Karmann Ghia features all of its original panels.

Unfortunate about the salvage title but still looks like a very nice example.
